Approach · Control in the office

Keep the systems you trust. Put AI under firm control.

Cloud AI made experimentation easy. Law and accounting firms still need control: where confidential processing happens, which client files an answer may use, and what counts as approved firm knowledge. Secure Law and Secure Accounting are built for that boundary.

Diagram of sealed control beside existing firm systems. Practice management, mail and filing, and ledger or tax systems remain the systems of record. A one-way read feeds into a sealed intelligence layer for grounded questions over firm knowledge and assigned client files, with a conflict wall between matters. Nothing is written back.

The category

Practice systems, public AI, and research each solve part of the problem

Practice management runs matters and fees. Public models draft and summarise. Research databases cover published authorities. Our solutions do not replace those purchases. They add a sealed intelligence layer beside them: cited answers from the firm’s own files and approved knowledge, with a hard wall between clients.

People ask a plain-language question of firm knowledge and assigned client files, and get an answer with citations, processed on premises.

The bind firms are in

The tools you already have each solve part of the problem

  • 01

    Run the practice

    Matters, diary, billing, filing

Covers: Practice management / DMS / ledger

    It still breaks

No cited answers from the firm’s own files, under the firm’s control

  • 02

    Draft and think fast

Lawyers and accountants under time pressure

Covers: Public ChatGPT / Copilot-class tools

    It still breaks

Client facts leave the firm; no hard wall between clients

  • 03

    Know the published law

    Research quality

Covers: Lexis-class / public eJudgment browse

    It still breaks

Firm methodology and this client file are missing

  • 04

    Stay compliant

    DPO / partners accountable

    Covers: Policies and training

    It still breaks

Policy fails when the convenient tool is in the browser

Buying more cloud AI seats does not close the confidentiality gap. Neither does hoping staff will simply not paste.

What our solutions are (and are not)

A sealed intelligence layer, not another system of record

Is

A sealed intelligence layer

  • Cited answers from firm knowledge and assigned client files
  • A hard wall between clients (and between engagements on the accounting vertical)
  • Partner-governed publishing into the firm library
  • Designed to sit beside existing practice, mail, and filing systems
  • Confidential questions answered inside the firm, on premises
  • Optional Frontier Mode: reversible pseudonymisation, approve, public model, restore. Never unmanaged paste.

Is not

Another system of record

  • A replacement practice-management or billing suite
  • A public chatbot subscription
  • A full commercial citator
  • A mailbox or the firm’s document system of record
  • Unsupervised legal or tax advice

Why this is coming to market

Control and flexibility, not another cloud seat

Flexibility without control is not enough. Firms must keep systems of record they already trust, choose what enters the knowledge library, and ensure grounded questions cannot cross from one client into another.

  • 01

    Control of processing

Confidential answers are not rented to a frontier model by default. The firm decides the boundary.
  • 02

    Control of knowledge

What becomes citable firm knowledge is acquired, verified, and partner-published, with a visible stamp.
  • 03

    Control of access

Matter assignment and conflict walls are technical, not memo-based.
  • 04

    Flexibility of coexistence

Keep practice software, Outlook, SharePoint/NAS, and the ledger. Index filed material; do not force a rip-and-replace.
  • 05

    Flexibility of scope

Approved firm knowledge and assigned client files; verticals for law and accounting without mixing corpora.

Challenges we expect

Answered plainly

Good. Keep it. Your practice system is there to run the office: matters, diary, billing, filing, and the ledger. Our solutions are not trying to replace any of that.

What our solutions add is a way for people to ask questions of the firm’s own files and approved knowledge, and get answers that point back to the source. They sit beside the systems you already trust, rather than asking you to move the practice onto a new platform.

Many practice and accounting platforms now offer AI features. Those are often useful for admin tasks and light drafting. In most cases, though, the AI still runs in the vendor’s cloud and reads client text there.

That is a different proposition from keeping confidential client work inside the firm while AI is used on it, and from making sure one client’s files cannot bleed into another’s answers. If your platform’s AI helps with the office, keep using it for that. Use our solutions when the prompt includes confidential client material.

Those tools are fine for general writing, learning, and work that does not include client facts. The problem starts when someone pastes a memo, a ledger extract, or client notes into them. At that point the firm has lost practical control over where that information goes.

Keep public tools for non-client work. For questions about client files and firm knowledge, use Secure Law or Secure Accounting. That is Sovereign AI: a path the firm operates, rather than a rented assistant. When a frontier model is still useful on client material, use Frontier Mode: reversible pseudonymisation first (placeholders, not redaction), you approve what leaves, and original identifiers are restored inside the firm.

The short answer is Why private AI?. For the longer ownership argument, see Sovereign AI, or a rented assistant?.

Citrix can strengthen desktop control, and Microsoft 365 Copilot can be a sound enterprise choice for office AI under your tenancy terms. Neither, by itself, means confidential client text stays inside the firm at the moment AI reads it.

Desktop control, enterprise cloud AI, and private AI on premises are three different controls. Sealed control is about the last of those: where the model reads the file.

It can, if you let it guess. Professional work should not work that way. Answers should be based on material the firm has actually retrieved, with citations the reader can check. Where our solutions cannot support a point, they should say so rather than invent one.

Partners still decide what becomes approved firm knowledge. Lawyers and accountants still own any advice or filing that leaves the firm. AI prepares; people decide.

No. The centre of our solutions is asking questions of firm knowledge and assigned client files, and getting cited answers people can verify. They are not a collections screen, a court diary, or another place to manage deadlines.

You keep those tools where they are. Our solutions are for research, drafting support, and finding what the firm already knows, under clearer control.

Our solutions should not feel like a second office. People keep working in the practice systems they already know. Secure Law and Secure Accounting are added beside them for the moments when someone needs to ask a question of the files or draft from them.

Most firms start with one team, prove the habit, then widen access. Connectors and knowledge shelves grow after people trust the answers, not before.

Using cloud email, storage, or practice software is a normal business decision. Sending confidential client text into a public AI model is a different decision. The second one is closer to disclosure than to ordinary IT outsourcing.

Being comfortable with cloud vendors for day-to-day operations does not answer the question of where AI reads a client file at the moment it answers. That is why this page exists: the confidentiality problem needs a different design, not another cloud seat.

Who it is for

One architecture. Two professional verticals.

  • Lawyers and accountants

Morning context and grounded questions on assigned matters and engagements.
  • Partners

Publish gate, supervision, methodology as firm knowledge.
  • DPO / IT

Auditability, erasure path, and a clear story for where processing happens.
  • Firm leadership

Adopt AI without surrendering the firm’s confidentiality posture.

Next step

Put confidential intelligence back under firm control

Keep the systems that run the office. Add sealed, cited answers that can see what they are allowed to see, and nothing else.
